First off we want to thank all of you for being part of TinyTorch. As of this month, we have now scheduled more than one million pieces of content to Facebook. It’s been fun to be part of your success!As we continue to grow, Facebook has recommended that we make a few changes to make our platform even more reliable. These changes will occur over the next couple of months, and will give your posts even greater visibility and engagement moving forward.
As we continue to grow, Facebook has recommended that we make a few changes to make our platform even more reliable. These changes will occur over the next couple of months, and will give your posts even greater visibility and engagement moving forward.
Posting Limits
We’ve noticed that some people are posting up to 200+ times within a 24-hour period for a single Facebook event. When issues like this occur, it’s possible for Facebook’s spam filter to temporarily suspend TinyTorch from posting to Facebook on a user’s behalf, or worse, entirely for all users.
To prevent a temporary suspension, Facebook has asked us to implement daily posting limits per Facebook profile, page, group, and event.
We feel that the best way to work with this is to introduce both Free and Pro TinyTorch accounts. Free accounts will be able to schedule up to 15 posts per each Facebook event/group/profile/page. Pro accounts will be able to schedule 20 posts. So if you have three Facebook events on the same day, you will be able to schedule up to 20 posts to each of them.
We will be watching these limits closely over the next few months to ensure that posts are not getting rejected from Facebook due to over-posting or spam issues.
Pre-Filled Posts
Facebook has also suggested that we change the way we work with pre-filled messages. Currently, when you share someone else’s post the message box is pre-filled with their text.
Moving forward, we will be displaying the original text above the message box. This will make it easier to create a custom message that is more unique to you while still being able to reference the original message.
Connected Accounts
Another way that we can work with Facebook is to limit the number of connected accounts. The more frequently that one post goes out to multiple locations at the same time, the more likely Facebook will treat that post as spam.
Free & Paid Accounts
When TinyTorch started, it was more of a hobby. TinyTorch is now much more than that with over 25,000 users, and growing. As a team of three (one full time and two part time), it is becoming ever difficult to support the current users. Additionally, it costs about $3,500 a month to pay for servers to schedule all of the content, which largely has come from our personal savings accounts.
We will always offer you a free version of TinyTorch, with features that are very similar to what you use today.
In order to make TinyTorch the best tool possible, we feel that the best path moving forward is to add additional features, some of which will be paid while others remain free. For example, some of the paid features will include private content and additional collections. And as previously promised, if you donated before November 5, 2014 you will have a free Pro account for life. We haven’t forgotten. Thank you!
